Favorite Tabor Boy moment
skeleton delivery, Nov. 1978 Nantucket to Marion short handed. While drying air from the backside of a cold front drops down off of the coast of southeastern New England. Cap snoozing in the sun on a seat immediately on the portside of the main companionway / deckhouse entrance, as I take a visual bearing of that old radio tower and steer for Marion, uninterupted by the navigator who is taking his own bearings, and has standing orders to wake the captain if we stray from our Track line.

Reunion Hat Requiem

All Schooner Crew members, past, present (somewhere in the USVI) and future may be amused to learn that my 30th Reunion TA ball cap died an honorable death last month in about 80 feet of water between the uninhabited WSW promitory of Peter Is. known as Key Cay, and Pelican Is. in the BVI, within site of St. John. (USVI) I was busy, and my crew was a bit sluggish from theIr previous days revelrie on Yost Van Dyke, but with the help of good weather and some attention to detail, the running…

Hey Dog, are you still in Boston? I've been in Pascagoula for the last two weeks but I'm headed home tomorrow for the hilldiays. I'll give you a call later.

Matt, What position are you sailing. If you have any seatime as master of large ships, I could sponsor you for the Boston Marine Society. Cap was a member of the BMS - oldest benevolent society in the USA.

MSC is great for those that want to put in the sea time and raise their license fast... They also do very interesting work. I've been master of two USNS ships, the USNS VINDICATOR (USCG DPB program) and USNS INVINCIBLE. Both were very interesting programs. Nice to be back on commercial ships with commercial sailors, though.

Aye, Matt, thanks for the invite. Give me a shout on the cell (207) 776-2994. Eddie Olivier is near Bangor- let's think about meeting in Augusta? It's on your way to Castine. Will explain more when you call. Good to hear from you. -Ted

Matt, Great to see another master's ticket among the former Tabor Boy crew. I'm with Big Blue (aka Maersk Line Ltd.) as master of the Maersk Rhode Island. If you are looking to come to the dark (commercial) side, we are expecting to get another tanker. I would like to shamelessly use my influence to promote any prior Tabor Boy crewmember. Give me a shout at capwalks@aol.com

Matt,

If your shipboard fire situation is not TOP SECRET, we can always us such incidents at our school as examples of "see what happens when you train for emergencies" catagory. if you write it up we could use it!
Cheers for now.

Doing superduper weekend with Capt. Corbett and others at Sunday River (ski resort). Does a lawyer feel guilty if nobody knows? Joke. Good to get your dispatches. Keep it up. I mean that. More people should look at charts. Aye-

Dog,
It sounds like you are doing just fine and right on track for the 3rd mated ticket. I think that you should be proud of your accomplishments. I'll have to give you a call this week to catch up.
Be safe and don't use a cutting tourch near the explosives.
Jamie
