Hi Jamie,

Thank you for the welcome!  I will definitely pass along the message.  The Tabor Boy is an awesome program -- I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Hello Jamie,

Where are you these days, I tried calling your ship while we past each other off Hatteras a few trips ago, but you were at home on vaca - good for you.

I hope all is going well for you.

Take care,

Richard

Hey Jamie,

Everything is going great here...heading out to sea on with Maersk at the end of next week. Feels good to be back! How has everything been with you?

Sadly, I don't think that we met during the '09 reunion. Either way, it's nice to hear from someone with such a vested interest in the maritime scholarly pursuits as me. Yes, I know Cam, and somewhat sadly, he hasn't changed too much, though the beard was a shocker the first time I saw him. As for anything being done, I can't really think of much. I'm a MUG as it is, so I have very little leeway or freedom in any direction.

With thanks,

Hi Jamie, thanks, it certainly has been a long time. I spent way too much time at work going through all the pictures on the site, all the memories.  I have a bunch that I'll see if I can scan and upload.  I have one thats a favorite of the ship being careened in Quicks Hole. Ive given up boats for motorcycles at the moment.  Same thing really, ride an expensive piece of equipment around in circles with no particular destination, wash, polish and throw money at it.

Dear Jamie,

Many thanks for your welcome.  I'm pleased to join the gang.  I do recall George Glaeser speaking highly of you often.. Both Jane and i were scheduled to be aboard for all of the Cup races in 1983.  Business responsibilities forced me to miss the last + best race, however Jane saw them all.  I am sure we have met several times Next time you are in Marion stop by our home is on Ryder Lane , a stones throw from where George used to live.

All the best,

Hi Jamie,
My Mid-Life Crisis Car is a 2008 Saturn Red Line. It is highly modified and
will do 0-60 in 5 seconds. I show it in local car shows here in Northeast FL
just outside of Jacksonville. I'm not sure when or if I will attend another
reunion although I loved the 50th. Seeing the changes just overwhelmed me. I
remember Cap Glazer very well and considered him a friend even though I
didn't participate in Schooner Crew. I did love to sail and took advantage
of the small boat program often at Tabor. 3 years ago I sold my 26'
Macgregor which had been a lot of fun sailing on the ST. John's River. If I
do make another, it is a long trip for us and now I have somehow turned 70,
don't quite understand just how that happened, however I have a very close
friend from the class of 1959 named Tom Ranges who lives in Rowayton, CT. I
can fly to Westchester County Airport and he drives us up to Tabor, so maybe
I will make another one yet. Boy, that was a run on sentence. Forgive me Mr.
Gowing! Take care Jamie and thanks for the e-mail. Regards - Admiral Jack

Hey Jamie,

Sorry its taken me five months to reply to your very kind comment. I admit I do not get on here as often as I should. This semester at MMA I have 6 hours of lab on the waterfront every week so I was fortunate enough to run into Mr. Leach one day while working on a new boat construction. He said he has just spoken to you on the phone a week or two before that. Maybe disney got it right when they said, "It's a small world after all..." and said it again, and again, and again.

Thank you for your kind words, it's nice to know I belong to three of the greatest private clubs in the world: alumni of Tabor Academy, alumni of SSV Tabor Boy and (future) alumni of MMA.

Thanks,

- Cam

I guess I was too busy with other activities to take advantage of the Tabor Boy in those days. A decision that I sincerely regret. At my 50th Reunion as I took the wheel I fell in love with sailing all over again! What an attraction it is as a statement for Tabor Academy./ All-a-tauto!!

Jamie, I wish I knew about this site sooner and will do my best to spread the word. Yes it's been a long time and a lot of water by the boards!

Dear Mr. Hutton,
Thank you for the very nice, "Welcome Aboard". It has been 48+ years since I have been on Tabor Boy. I believe the Skipper was Captain Glaeser,
I had a wonderful experience. I would love to speak with you sometime. I have many relatives in Marion and also ones that lived on Butler and
Converse Points. If you would like to talk please email me your phone number. I would love to catch up on what is going on with The Tabor Boy
and Marion.
Best Regards and "Keep a steady strain"

Jamie,

I looked on the web for a picture of the Arro and believe I saw a very similar, if not the same, boat in the locks at Lake Union in the last year or so. Our boat Sheju, 35' was built in 1929 in Victoria, BC.

Hi James no my son did not go to any of the schools, he blew out a knee when he was young, and he was not 100%. there is a KP grad that is in charge at Moran named Peter Keyes, he was very close to my father at the end both being Kings Pointers, he got Walter on. The kids got salt water for blood, but dont we all? What was that line cap used, I've pissed in more water than you've sailed in. thanks again. Rusty

Hi Jamie, thanks for the warm welcome. I came across the site the other night when my son Walter IV was showing me some photos of his tug that he works on at Moran towing. It was a pleasant reminder of the years at Tabor. Peter Mello should be very proud of himself for this one. I was looking through some of the photos he took and there is one of my dad standing watching Jim Walker playing some board game on deck on a father son weekend. that brought a tear i buried him last july. I guess he is up there with Cap, and capt Tyson from kings point, all good Kings Point grads. Well thanks again and hope to talk to more of the crew soon.

Jamie, I left the TAGM (Air Force RADAR) program in '06 and went to the commercial side of Maersk. The new ship we are considering is a two year old Ice classed tanker for the Antarctica and Greenland run (the T-5 is getting phased out due to age). I'm not sure where I stand on the rung (#1 or #2) for the ship since it will spend most of its time operating in the Med/North Europe and the senior tanker captain at MLL would likely want to do that. On the other hand, the senior captain is a major Drama Queen/King - very smart and capable but loves the drama. I'm also fine staying in the Far East running my little tanker. We shall see. Jim

Thanks Jamie. Things are well. Weather in SC is just right this time of year, of course now my vacation is cut a month short.

4 vessels of the same class? They ought to have figured out how to read the plans by now :)

My motley crew are all doing well. Back to school and hard at work. Bahamas sounds a little better than Pascgoula.

Hope all's well with you Mary and the "kids."
