Working as a team with my fellow crewmembers onboard and then of course our waiting for Cap’s approval of our performance!

The Tall Ships Race from Bermuda was one of my great lifetime experiences.

Fathers and Sons cruises were good bonding opportunities for being with my Dad.

America’s Cup Races in Newport were a blast.

Fun times at pool parties at Cap's House with the always supportive Mrs. G making sure we had a good time.

What did Cap have inside his always-present Coffee Cup that allowed him to put up with all us kids?

RIchard,

Been spending time up in Marinette, Wisconsin where we are building our next ship. Sorry to have missed you. Actually thinking of heading back to sea on ITBs or something coastal with a two week - two week rotation.

Good to hear from you,

Jamie

Richard,

All well here in landlocked Hockessin, Delaware.

After two children graduated from college last May, we took a family vacation to Bermuda.  First time there since my three visits on the Tabor Boy in 74, 76, and 77.  I think you were on the 74 and 76 trips.  It felt odd to watch the ocean zoom by from 40,000 feet for an hour and think of covering that same stretch in three-four days on the schooner.  The Hamilton waterfront is a little diffferent now.  The pier where we used to tie up, next to the Hamilton Princess, is gone now, replaced by new buildings and harborside condos.  Scuba diving was just as wonderful as I remember it from back when Jay Parker taught us diving in Bermuda in June '74.

You are an unlimited ocean master mariner!  Maybe it seems "normal" to you but to me it is extremely impressive!  I like the photo of you here: http://articles.sfgate.com/2003-02-05/news/17477160_1_cape-horn-ships-gulf-war.

Richard,

I'll be joining the Maersk Montana next week for the first part of sea year. I think its heading to the Mid. East. No worries on the sea project, already working on the nav. law portion. KP has been interesting, but I cant wait to finally get out to sea.

Fair winds and I'm sure that we'll cross paths!

Rich, Welcome aboard. Glad to see another shipmaster among the ol' crew. What ship are you sailing master on? I'm master of the Maersk Rhode Island, MLL's only oil tanker. I go back to work in 2-4 weeks. Might join in Singapore, might join in Ulsan, Korea. My email is CapWalks@aol.com

Capt Alcott,

Welcome to Tabor Boy's "virtual coffee table book", as I sometimes refer to this wonderful site. Glad to have a fellow mariner contributing, look forward to some pics and stories.
Cheers for now!

Rich,
Welcome aboard! I have to agree with Peter, those were good times. I forgot that you were aboard for the Tall Ships event. We were so lucky to see the America's Cup too.
Congratulations on sailing as captain. I've been working on NOAA's new construction in Mississippi. We are turning out four new Fisheries Research vessels.
Best regards,
Jamie
