Yes, you read that right and being of Scottish decent, I do have a family tartan and do wear my kilt on occasion, I was intrigued that a world class university in Scotland had done a study on Sail Training, so I could not wait to read it.
The University of Edinburgh released a…

For those of you who thought my story of the turtle was a one time event, well NOT SO FAST, Jamie H and I picked this story up over the weekend.
It seams a certain New York City artist has taken it upon himself to build another replica of the Revolutionary War TURTLE submarine and this time tried to DRIFT his way down a famous NYC river only to end up surrounded by the ever vigilant NYC Marine Police who were not to keen on this lool-a-like home made floating drifting bomb…

Hey Bob,
Jamie says you folks at NE Maritime are starting a QMED class and looking for insrtuctors.
Sounds interesting as a retirement job. The NOLA Schooner folks are still in the same place they were a year ago.
I can best be reached at jlincoln@mebaunion.org
Look forward to hearing from you

Hey Bob,
Thanks for the call and the information. I recently received this from the group:
>>Our organization meets every Thursday at the CC's on Esplanade - 6:30 to 8 covering agenda items and 8-9 chatting. Please feel free to stop by anytime. We're the ones dropping words like square rigged and business plan... The only exception to this schedule is when it is sea shanty night at the Irish House (May 10th is the next one). On those nights we meet there...
As you can see, I think this may turn into an interest group who go ouit drinking and discuss the "idea" of bringing a schooner to New Orleans. I'll let you know. Thank again for the help. Regards, Jonathan
Hey Captain Bob G Lover! How goes the fight?
Howdy Bob,
I'm here in New Orleans as Gulf Coast V.P. for MEBA, big shot!! Anyhow, I have hooked up with a group, New Orleans Maritime Heritage Foundation, and they are interested in bringing a tall ship to NOLA. nolatallship.org just got established fall 2011, I was a fund raiser last night and thought of you. I have no idea what it takes whether they purchase or build, for them to make it happpen. Please give me a call at 504-495-9750 because I woulf like to pick your brain on the topic. Look forward to hearing from you.

Just read that you are a graduate of Maine Maritime '82. I am currently a senior at Tabor and the port watch officer aboard Tabor Boy. Next year I will be matriculating into Maine Maritime Academy's class of 2014. I will be entering their Small Vessel Operations program (SVO) which I am not sure if they had when you were there but it is kind of a big deal up there now. The program is a 500 ton program which specializes in sailing endorsements and sail training in general aboard the schooner Bowdoin. I am proud to enter into what seems to be a noble maritime tradition both coming from Tabor and going into Maine Maritime.
Cant wait to share some sea stories,
- Cam Brien
