I've had so many fun times...it's tough to say. I will always remember coming up to Maine after my freshman year as a deckhand, and the feeling of becoming an officer, and switching out of the blues and into the tans. Hilarious times, the time I almost lost my hand on the jib winch, Beatles Wednesdays and fooling around in the Utility Boat (which we named Blade, to match the Rescue Boat, Razor) will always be with me.
Another summer means another Orientation-at-Sea program! The first week got the program off to a great start up in Camden, Maine despite some less-than-ideal weather. The students spent the week getting to know one another, getting acclimated to the school and learning some basic sailhandling as we made our way downeast from Camden. We were blessed with a great sailing breeze on Monday and got to show the students what the Tabor Boy can do! On the academic side of things, we are very… Continue
The schooner went through our underway drills under USCG Chief Jim Hindes today from 1300-1545. I am happier than you can imagine to report that the crew passed with flying colors–notwithstanding that the crew is ten months out of practice. As a result of today's drills, the schooner has regained her Certificate of Inspection after a long, long, long refit process. We're back in business!

Chris,
If you have time today, can you get on the web site GCaptain and vote for Peter Mello's article? He is only three votes away from winning the IPhone and the contest ends today. The site is http://gcaptain.com/maritime/discoverer/. The article that he wants us to vote for is on the 5th page and is titled, "US Army and Navy rescuing sunken Russian submarine”. If any of your shipmates have time, can you get them to vote?
When I get up to Marion in October, you, Peter and I should get together for dinner. I’ll invite us over to his house in Mattapoisett. He owes us one for voting!
Best regards,
Jamie

Your the Man! Thanks for posting these pics. I'll try to send you a shot or two of the ship that we are building in Mississippi via your Tabor mail acount.
Thanks for adding the photos. Look forward to reading about the work done and seeing some interior shots when you get the chance. As XO you nearly have a brand new boat! Work hard and have fun! ;-)

I have some of the masts being stepped this August, but I will definitely take some "after" shots to put online as well.

Chris,
One of the members asked for some photos of the refit to be posted on the site. Would you be so kind as to download some? I think that it is important for all to see how she is and what work was done.
Thanks and good luck this year,
Jamie

Do me a favor, post a pic of you and your officers with the NOAA hats.
